INDEPENDENT LIVING
Effective Living Choices Program
In addition to live independently—it’s important to live effectively. In general terms, independent living is defined as living on your own, with a job fitting your capabilities, and having an active social life. But living effectively is a matter of self-determination, of being open to the opporunity and freedom to pursue a course of action, and likewise, the freedom to fail and learn from one's mistake. Effective Living is essentially a matter of choice.
Effective Living Choices is an independent living skills program designed to help individuals create Effective Living Plans tailored to their immediate needs, as well as their long-term goals and desires. It equips you with the resources necessary to live, work, and make important decisions, incorporating:
• Assistive Technology
• Independent Living Skills Training
• Community-based Services
• Client Support Services
• Financial Literacy Classes
• Sign Language Classes
• Video Communication Services (visual language via web cam & high speed connection)
• Computer Literacy Classes
• Employment Assistance
• Sign Language Translating and assistance for native users of foreign sign language
• Computer Lab with internet access for client/consumer use
The Effective Living Choices Program also offers foreign sign language interpreting and assistance, specifically for Turkish, Pakistani, Spanish, German, Russian, and Farsi.
